Ten Graduate School Scholarships to be Awarded by EdFed in November Are you heading to graduate school and need some help financing your education? EdFed is here to help with our Graduate School Scholarship program. Applications will be accepted from September 3, 2024, through October 31, 2024. EdFed members, who are new and existing graduate school students, are welcome to apply. Act Now! The deadline to apply is Thursday, October 31, 2024. For more information, visit www.edfed.org/graduatescholarship Official Rules: Ten (10) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to eligible students entering, or already attending, graduate school. The recipients' names will be randomly drawn from a pool of qualified applicants. Source of Funds: Scholarship awards are funded by Educational Federal Credit Union, PO Box 830370, Miami, FL 33283. To Apply: Members may apply only by submitting a signed and completed EdFed Graduate School Scholarship Application. Incomplete or unsigned applications or applications containing inaccurate information cannot be considered. Applications will be accepted from Tuesday, September 3, 2024, to closing time on Thursday, October 31, 2024, and the scholarships will be awarded in late November. Applicants can submit their completed and signed application via regular mail to: Educational Federal Credit Union, Attn: Scholarship Desk, PO Box 830370, Miami, FL 33283. Hand delivered applications may be submitted at any of our branches prior to closing on Thursday, October 31, 2024. For our branch hours and locations, visit www.edfed.org/branches. All applications must be received or postmarked on or before Thursday, October 31, 2024. Eligibility: THE GRADUATE SCHOOL'S LETTER ACCEPTING THE STUDENT INTO THE GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAM, OR CONFIRMATION OF ENROLLMENT MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THE APPLICATION. An applicant must have been a primary member in good financial standing for at least one year prior to the date of the application. "Good standing" means that the applicant has not been delinquent on a loan obligation or overdrawn on a share account for the 12-month period immediately preceding the date of the application and has not previously caused EdFed a loss. Applicant must already have been accepted into an eligible degree program. Graduate programs offered by regionally accredited universities or colleges within the United States in any area of study are eligible. Graduate courses may be in classroom, online or hybrid classes. An applicant if not a previous recipient of this graduate scholarship, can apply in more than one year. Recipients of the undergraduate Hubert O. Sibley Scholarship may apply for a Graduate School Scholarship. APPLICATIONS NOT RECEIVED BEFORE CLOSING TIME ON OCTOBER 31, 2024, AND THOSE WITH ANY MISSING INFORMATION, INCLUDING REQUIRED SIGNATURE(S), ARE NOT ELIGIBLE AND WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. Random Drawing: Students submitting completed applications in compliance with the requirements will be assigned numbers for the purposes of the drawing. The recipients will be selected from among all eligible applications via a random drawing. The drawing will be conducted at the Educational Federal Credit Union office located at: 7800 SW 117 Ave, Miami, FL 33183. The Administrator, whose decisions are final and bonding in all matters, will conduct the drawing. Odds of being a recipient depend on the number of eligible applications received. The potential recipients will be contacted via telephone, email, and/or mail. If the potential recipients do not respond to the notification within 10 days from the first notification attempt, if the potential recipient fails to complete all required procedures within the specified time period, or if a potential recipient is not in compliance with these Official Rules, then such a person shall be disqualified, and an alternate recipient may be selected. Credit Union Officials and an independent audit firm will supervise the selection process. NOTIFICATION: Selected recipients of the Graduate Scholarship will be notified by telephone, email, and/or mail. Scholarship Recipient: Recipients must qualify and submit the required documents listed below for reimbursement within 60 days of the Graduate Scholarship notification or forfeit the scholarship. When the confirmed documents are received, the funds will be placed in the recipient's account within 30 days. 1. An OFFICIAL transcript showing a passing grade and credits earned for the fall quarter on eligible course(s) at a regionally accredited university or college. 2. Paid tuition receipts for student showing the balance paid for the fall quarter. Scholarship funds cover tuition, associated fees and required course books only for the fall term of the year the scholarship is awarded. Tuition reimbursement by employers, etc. will not affect the ability of the recipient to receive the award money. Release of Liability and Publicity: Photographs of the recipients may be taken by EdFed for use in EdFed publications and may be released to the news media. Recipients must contact the EdFed's Marketing Department to have their picture taken or they may submit an appropriate photograph. Scholarship recipients must consent to the use of their name, photographs, likeness, and limited biographical information for publicity and advertising purposes without further compensation, where permitted by law. All applicants release EdFed, as well as their officers, directors, employees, members, and all others associated with the development and execution of this scholarship program (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any liability with respect to, or in any way arising from, this scholarship program and/or acceptance or use of the scholarship funds, including liability for personal injury, damages, death, or monetary loss. |
